Berry Hibiscus Protein Refresher
Step 1: Brew the Hibiscus Tea
- Bring 8 cups of water to a boil.
- Remove from the heat and add the hibiscus tea bags (or dried hibiscus flowers).
- Steep for 10–15 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags or strain out the flowers.
- Allow the tea to cool completely.
Step 2: Mix the Protein
- Pour about 1 cup of the cooled tea into a shaker bottle.
- Add the protein powder and shake until completely dissolved.
- This helps prevent clumps.
Step 3: Assemble the Drink
- Pour the remaining cooled tea into a large pitcher or beverage dispenser.
- Stir in the dissolved protein mixture.
- Add the remaining 8 cups of cold water.
Step 4: Add the Fruit
- Stir in the sliced strawberries, blueberries, lemon slices, and lime slices.
- Add the sweetener if desired and mix well.
Step 5: Chill
- Refrigerate for 2–4 hours to allow the fruit to infuse the drink with flavor.
Step 6: Serve
- Fill glasses with ice.
- Pour the refresher over the ice, making sure to include some of the fruit in each serving.
- Stir before serving if the protein settles.
Tips
- Use whey protein isolate for the highest protein with the fewest calories and carbohydrates.
- Add fresh mint leaves for an extra refreshing flavor.
- Frozen berries work well and help keep the drink cold.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir or shake before serving if separation occurs.
